The Chippewa Creek stream channel had eroded the east bank causing instability of the bank and loss of soil.
Little Chippewa Creek structure 3L had rusted out to the point where the banks had eroded back to the asphalt driveway often used by Morton Salt.
During annual dam inspections, one section of protective grate on the top of the outlet structure at the River Styx dam was missing, creating a safety hazard.
The outlet of this structure and bottom of the drop inlet had severely deteriorated. The entire structure was replaced with N-12 pipe.
The concrete cradle that supports the principal spillway pipe at Dam II-A near Ryan Rd. had deteriorated, exposing the reinforcing steel.
