All Chippewa flood control dams are regulated by the State of Ohio – ODNR – Dam Safety. Each of the eight Dams were designed by the USDA – Soil Conservation Service, to the standards in place at the time of construction in the 1970s. As standards improve, each dam is evaluated and modified as needed to meet the stricter standards in place today. Structure II-A required raising the top of Dam about 1 foot, to ensure the Dam will safely pass the required storm event.
