GPS/GIS Asset Inventory

The GPS/GIS Asset Inventory was designed to accomplish three main goals:

a. Locate all of the structures in the channel

b. Determine their attributes, i.e. diameter, type of pipe, past condition, & current condition including pictures

c. Establish a database of all structures within the flood control system.

There are 5 phases to this project:

• Phase 1: Collection of information from "as-builts" and existing maps, as well as preliminary office work.
  
• Phase 2: Determination and acquisition of necessary equipment and software.
• Phase 3: Fieldwork and review of ingress and egress points.
• Phase 4: Completion of data collection, establishment of the completed database and accessibility by the MWCD and Chippewa Subdistrict staff.
• Phase 5: Development of a maintenance plan for the channel and structures based on the database.
